Pilot notice — not reviewed by legal counsel
pair2mock is currently in a limited pilot for users in Nigeria. This document has not been reviewed or approved by legal counsel. It is provided for transparency during the pilot only and is not legal advice. We will update these terms after a formal legal review.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how pair2mock ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our websites and applications (the "Service"). The Service is currently offered as a limited pilot for users in Nigeria. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.
For privacy questions or requests, contact info@pair2mock.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account and profile data — such as name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you register or sign in (including via supported social providers).
- Activity and session data — practice and exam attempts, answers, scores, reviews, interview session metadata, and peer matching information.
- Live interview media — when you join a live peer or AI-assisted session, audio and video may be transmitted in real time through our real-time communications provider (LiveKit). Recording policies, if any, will be disclosed in the product before you join.
- Content you submit — questions, imports, and other materials you upload or create in the Service.
- Technical and usage data — device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and product analytics events (for example via PostHog) to understand how the Service is used and to improve reliability and security.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and personalize the Service (including matching peers and scoring sessions).
- Authenticate users and maintain account security.
- Communicate with you about the Service, security, or support requests.
- Analyze usage, debug issues, and improve features and performance.
- Enforce our Terms, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
5. Lawful bases for processing
For the Nigeria pilot, we process personal data in line with applicable Nigeria data protection law (including the Nigeria Data Protection Act and related regulations, as applicable) on bases such as: performance of a contract (providing the Service you request), legitimate interests (security, analytics, and product improvement, balanced against your rights), consent where required, and legal obligation.
If you access the Service from elsewhere and other regimes apply (for example the GDPR), we will process your data under the corresponding lawful bases to the extent required.
7. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal requirements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records for legal, security, or backup purposes.
8. Your choices and rights
Under applicable Nigeria data protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can delete your account in Settings; for other requests, email support@pair2mock.com.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (or any successor supervisory authority) where applicable. If other jurisdictions apply to you, contact us to exercise rights under those laws.
9. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than Nigeria, including where our hosting, LiveKit, PostHog, or other providers operate. Where required by Nigeria law, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers. Details can be provided on request.
10. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 18 in Nigeria (or the minimum age of majority required where you live). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate.
